Event Authenticity

Co. L, 15th NYVC

Civil War period authenticity is a crucial point of the 15^th NYVC interpretation.  Many visitors to events a times take note to the items and clothing we have.  The unit has a great pride in interpreting history in its proper forum.  In fact the 15^th NYVC has won awards and declorations on its camp and individual presentations.  With the notoriety that we have gained, it behooves the unit not to set standards of authenticity to continue with this reputation.

Uniform / Period Dress

·        Make sure that your clothing is American Civil War period correct.

·        All weapons should be of the type correct for the period.

·        Not modern eye ware should be worn. Avoid this as much as possible by purchasing period like eyeglasses.

Camp Presentation

All items in camp during visitors must represent period correct Civil War camp that means the following.  A farbie tent should be set up to accommodate any modern items from the public.

·        No modern drinking items plastic, paper, aluminum cans, modern bottles, etc. 

·        No coolers of any type.

·        No sleeping blankets.
