Peter Martin Boehm
Major, United States Army

Born on February 10, 1845, he earned the Medal of Honor while serving in the Civil War as Second Lieutenant, Company K, 15th New York Cavalry at Dinwiddie Courthouse, Virginia, on March 31, 1865. The Medal was not actually issued until December 15, 1898.

He died on June 4, 1914 and was buried in Section 2 of Arlington National Cemetery. His wife, Ada Boehm, is buried with him.

The following is the official citation.

Rank and organization: Second Lieutenant, Company K, 15th New York Cavalry.
Place and date: At Dinwiddie Courthouse, Va., 31 March 1865. Entered service
at: Brooklyn, N.Y. Birth: New York. Date of issue: 15 December 1898. Citation:
While acting as aide to General Custer, took a flag from the hands of color
bearer, rode in front of a line that was being driven back and, under a
heavy fire, rallied the men, re-formed the line, and repulsed the charge.
